We now have an exciting opportunity for a Driver Operator to join our close-knit team. Working as part of our maintenance team, this role will see you travelling throughout the Queenstown region operating our state of the art Suction Sweeper Truck. Queenstown prides itself on presenting itself a clean and tidy image to locals and tourists alike and our teams play an important part in that. Representing Downer at its best, you’ll also play a crucial role with our winter maintenance response.

The details – you’ll be responsible for:

• Cyclic sweeping of the road network to keep the CBD and urban areas free of detritus build-up
• Optimising routes to maximise efficiency of the sweeping cycles
• Ensuring the plant is well presented, serviced, maintained and operated in a professional, safe and efficient manner
• Removing grit from the network as part of winter maintenance
• Assisting with snow ploughing, and grit and CMA application
• Responding to emergency and after hours call outs on a rostered basis
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations and policies

This role is well suited to an early riser and we can’t think of a better way to see the sunrise!

About you

You don’t need to have experience with this type of plant, we will provide all the training and support you need. Ideally though you’ll have worked within construction, maintenance or transport and you’ll be a comfortable and competent driver.

You’ll also:

• Have your Class 2 licence
• Take pride in your work and your vehicle. Plant presentation is your responsibility
• Well organised and a methodological approach to work
• Flexible and happy to respond to events as they arise
