Salary: £39,316+ Dependent of skills and experience

What you'll be doing:

  • Working across the communications team supporting a range of themes and programmes to actively seek out and develop stories for external communication that positively position the business in our key Air sector markets
  • Contributing to a range of external communications campaigns, developing engaging content appropriate for media including online, print and digital channels
  • Ensuring digital-first approach in all communications and enhanced use of video and digital communications.
  • Supporting the delivery of virtual and physical press briefings, including the production of supportive briefing materials, logistics and Q&A materials
  • Dealing with day to day management of proactive and reactive press enquiries and activities, including co-ordination of media training for key spokespeople, preparation of briefing materials and lines to take.
  • Working collaboratively with communications colleagues across the business to create and maintain a bank of evergreen content for use on our digital and social media platforms and channels.
  • Building and maintaining a good working relationship with functional colleagues across the company

Your skills and experiences:

  • Self-motivated, with a positive, campaigning mind-set with a good awareness of the national and business news agenda
  • Strong digital media skills and good verbal and written communication skills, able to produce well-written content including press releases and website copy
  • Proven influencing, communication and collaboration skills and ability to develop trusted relationships with colleagues, stakeholders and journalists.
  • Sound project management skills and proven experience of managing competing demands and working to tight deadlines

The Communications team:

We currently have an exciting vacancy for a Press Officer (Internal Title: Communications Associate) at our site in Warton.

As a Press Officer/Communications Associate, you will work with the Air Sector Head of External Communications and the Senior Digital Communications Manager, to fulfil the role as an external PR officer – creating compelling content for external channels and audiences including local, regional and national media and social and digital media.

You will work flexibly with team members to support the development of good news stories and produce engaging content – including video, animation, reports, news releases, imagery - to promote our reputation and in support of business priorities and milestones.

This role will provide you with fantastic opportunities to join a high performing and motivated communications team where you can expand on your PR and media relations experience.Within this role, it also offers the opportunity to develop a career doing rewarding and important work in support of our national defence and security.
