Job title: Head of Strategic Projects

Location: Portsmouth, New Malden, Farnborough, Filton - We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: £80,000+ depending on skills and experience

Referral Scheme Bonus: £1,000

Grade: GG15

What you’ll be doing:

  • Delivery of complex systems to operational ships and test sites to time, cost and quality
  • Holding significant delivery and financial responsibilities in a local business and enterprise context
  • Development and delivery of related strategic business threads and tactical actions.
  • Senior stakeholder management and communications across the defence enterprise
  • Project management including planning, tracking, and resource forecasting and reporting
  • Project and business accounting, business case development and budgeting
  • Proposal development and estimating
  • Supplier management and engagement
  • Oversight of contracts to MoD and supply chain
  • Safety and risk assessments for working environments and CONDO for deployed teams

Your skills and experiences:

  • Delivering from within a MoD organisation with a good understanding of MoD business processes
  • Experience of delivering complex projects for large matrix organisations in a naval environment
  • Business acumen and commercially astute
  • Suitable candidate should have a naval business background
  • Experience in managing resource, risks, costs and outcomes
  • APM / ChPP is desirable

The team:

It’s a new role that will provide balance for the project team and enable to scale up the business by representing customer voice and ideas – it is to be viewed as start-up initially with the support of the wider business functions, with initial emphasis on stakeholder engagement, strategy development and then programme delivery into the wider enterprise.
