Job title: Skilled Tool Maker

Location: Warton/Samlesbury – this role includes shift pattern

Salary: £37,738

Would you like to be conducting toolmaking tasks to support a wide range of products including Typhoon, Hawk and F-35 Lightning II? We currently have several vacancies for Toolmakers at our Tooling department based at Samlesbury.

As a Toolmaker, you will cover the full toolmaking lifecycle including new build, modification, cycle checking and refurbishment. You will have a deep understanding of mechanical work and should be able to carry out the various toolmaking techniques used in the aircraft and support industry.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Ensuring safe systems of work are carried out in compliance with Health and Safety rules and regulations
  • Read/Interpret Engineering Drawings
  • Installing and maintaining various types of jigs and fixtures
  • Fault diagnosis and defect rectification
  • Carrying out detailed inspections and cycle checking of assembly fixtures and be fully conversant in the use of all measuring equipment
  • Tasks could involve repetitive physical activities across several shifts
  • Compliance with foreign object debris (FOD) and tool control

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Advanced Engineering Craft Apprenticeship with associated NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent)
  • Understanding of engineering drawings, standards, and specifications
  • Experience using hand tools and measuring equipment with high accuracy
  • Understanding of Tool Control, Tool calibration and Foreign Object Debris (F.O.D.) procedures

Desirable:

  • Experience working with military aircraft / aerospace industry

You will have a strong work ethic and can-do attitude with the ability to work as part of an integral team whilst also being confident in working independently. You will possess excellent communication skills both verbal and written. You will be dexterous and have a keen eye for detail with a flexible approach to your work, able to work to tight deadlines

For applications to be processed, suitable candidates will need to supply evidence that they have completed a ‘time served’ full Engineering.

These roles will be available to start through-out 2023 and may involve working on a shift rota which could include days, nights and weekends and flexibility is crucial for success in this role.
