The BioPharmaceuticals Medical Evidence organization is accountable for the delivery of global strategic studies required to generate the evidence to build the confidence on AZ therapies and additional observational, interventional and externally sponsored research required by Global Product Teams and Global Medical Teams.
The Head, Real World (RW) Science & Digital will lead a global team accountable for execution of the RWE strategy, including enhancing data assets through innovative analytics, key collaborations with RWE research partners, delivery of RWE studies, and driving AZ’s evidence capability globally as well as in partnership with local countries. This role will coordinate closely with key GMD and GPPS partners and local country evidence functions to ensure ability for deliver medical evidence, enhancing data, analytics and evolving technologies.

Typical Accountabilities
Through leadership of the RW Science & Digital group, as well as individual contribution:
Drive the successful execution of the RWE strategy, including secondary data acquisitions, RWE collaborations, analytic tool development and application
Develop and lead data analytics, standards, and quality resourcing strategy to optimally support RWE study delivery
Establish and run data management and standards support model for primary MEOR studies
Enhance evidence generation capabilities throughout the worldwide medical network through key BPM Evidence and BPM initiatives, in partnership with local markets
Represent the interests of AZ in the execution of the AZ RWE and broader EvGen externalisation strategy, including complex investment negotiations with alliance partners and key strategic vendors, including representation of AZ on alliance governance committees
Develop and lead a team of RW data scientists to delivery RWE studies
Develop and lead RWE alliance capabilities
Line management of the members of the BPM Evidence RW Science & Digital organization
Promote and encourage communication within and across departments
Recruit, retain and develop personnel through skills development and creation of opportunities for related staff
Provide performance management, performance assessment and reward proposals for direct Ensure policy administration and implementation within the organization
Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Essential
Master’s degree OR Ph.D. University degree in Public Health, Epidemiology or related subject area such as Health Economics, Health Outcomes Research, Health Informatics or Biostatistics.
Extensive experience working with primary and secondary data, both US and global. Preferred experience with pragmatic trials as well.
10+ years’ experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology or relevant health care industry required, ideally including experience in evidence development, portfolio management, medical affairs, life cycle management including headquarter and market country roles.
Experience leading and managing in a global, matrix environment
Track record in developing innovative/entrepreneurial solutions, delivering a new capability or driving a change effort.
Knowledge and experience working with Real World Evidence, including an understanding of Health Informatics, IT and analytics, and the applications of these domains to pharmaceutical/biotechnology evidence generation.
