Job Description:
Reporting to the SVP OBU Medical, the Head of Diagnostics Medical is a new position with accountability to provide future focused medical diagnostic leadership across the medical organisation.
Taking a lead in developing cross asset/tumor diagnostics strategies, the post holder will work with the Medical Leadership Team to identify and build diagnostic capabilities, opportunities and priorities to enhance the seamless adoption of therapies to guide precision medicine decision making while supporting and enabling overall Global Medical and OBU strategy
In this role there will be the accountability to build strong working relationships with our diagnostic Commercial partners, Precision medicine group in Oncology R&D, assess and build internal medical diagnostics capabilities across the globe and build strong insights into next generation diagnostics innovative patient solutions including structured partnerships.
Typical Accountabilities
- The role contributes significantly by partnering with the Global Oncology Medical Leadership Team in driving the vision and implementation of the unified Global Medical Strategy.
- Oversees long term planning and delivery of Global Medical diagnostics strategic plan to respond to confirmed and future multiple additional indications (lifecycle management) across franchises/therapeutic areas
- Accountable for translating various parallel diagnostic plans/strategic initiatives at an asset/tumor level into a consolidated, comprehensive global diagnostic portfolio.
- Will lead on the development and oversight of a robust medical diagnostic governance model to ensure business cases for investment are robust, are prioritised, avoid duplication and have clear deliverables & relevant metrics
- Will lead on the formulation of global cross asset/tumor business cases and will support diagnostics colleagues on the development of asset/tumor level plans
- Will act as the key Medical relationship owner with our Commercial Diagnostics partners to ensure the sharing and cascade of plans and information to enable further opportunities for collaboration and partnership
- Will work with Medical Excellence to identify needs and solutions to building medical diagnostics capability across above and in market OBU medical teams globally
- Will evaluate best in class resources and programs to support diagnostic launch and evidence study excellence and will lead in external engagement of new innovative medical diagnostic opportunities
- Develops Global Real World Evidence plans to ensure Real World Data and Clinical trial datais in place to inform therapy reimbursement requirements
- Builds relationships and gathers insights and data via eternal engagements (ad boards, steering committees, pathology community/associations) to inform education and partnership opportunities
- Develops global real world data/evidence strategies to analyze and translate data into recommendations for potential/alternative therapy opportunities
Required Experience
- Minimum 8+ years of senior leadership/specialized experience in pharma/life sciences and/or medical experience (e.g. significant clinical/academic/medical affairs agency roles/organisations) with a diagnostics focus
- Advanced Scientific degree strongly preferred e.g. MD, PhD, PharmD)
- Recognised as a subject matter Oncology expert
- Strong experience and ability to lead and provide strategic leadership across functional working groups and teams within a complex matrix organisation
- Exceptional stakeholder and communication skills with a strong situational Influencing style/ability
- Strong demonstrable experience in leading, promoting, motivating and empowering others to accomplish individual, team and organisational objectives
- Extensive experience and ability to influence strategically and persuade tactfully, to obtain desired outcomes while maintaining effective, positive organisational relationships
- Demonstratable experience of developing strategy and translating strategy into action plans
- Expertise in product launches and mature brand development
- Extensive experience and strong ability to evaluate, interpret and present highly complex data for a series of studies (prospective and retrospective)
- Extensive project management leadership and experience required
- Significant knowledge and experience in Dx/Assay development and method evaluation
- Significant understanding of the overall drug development and commercialization
- process incl health economic outcomes research/payer access issues
- Strong experience of research into Health Industry research with a focus on Diagnostic Innovation
- Experience of developing diagnostic-focused clinical/ RWD trials
- Strong analytical interpretation and communication capability translating clinical trial and published data into strong scientific narratives for various audiences
Preferred Experience
- Direct experience of managing/leading individuals teams is strongly preferred
- Oncology medical experience and/or clinical lab experience
- End to end lean process review/mapping preferably in a medical/science arena is desirable
- Development of digital health platforms and solutions
- Leading ecosystem partnerships at scale
- Experience building and developing a new function/specialist area
