About Woolworths Group

Woolworths Group is a food and everyday needs retailer united by the shared purpose of creating better experiences together for a better tomorrow. With more than 1,400 stores across its Woolworths Supermarkets, Countdown Supermarkets (New Zealand) and BIG W brands, and fast-growing eCommerce businesses, Woolworths Group is Australia and New Zealand’s largest retailer. A top 10 company on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX), Woolworths Group employs more than 180,000 team members and serves more than 20 million customers a week.

Here at Woolworths Group, we are committed to growing greener every day and have set ourselves some ambitious sustainability goals. To enable these commitments, we have a newly created team and function; Proactive Services. This team will transform the way we deliver our in-store cleaning, trolley collection, and waste management services to our stores. This industry-leading program will contribute to our 2025 Sustainability Plan and our goal of zero food waste to landfill. With the creation of the Proactive Services team, we truly believe that is one of the steps that will help create a better tomorrow for future generations.

Our Proactive Services Manager is a highly visible, leadership role that works across multiple stores. You’ll have direct accountability for the commercial and daily operational performance of this function with the main goal of ensuring that Team Members and Customers alike experience a clean, safe and hygienic environment to work and shop in. With your Team Leaders, you’ll create a culture of inclusion and teamwork to lead and motivate our amazing front-line Team Members who deliver this service to our stores.

You’ll demonstrate your impact by:

  • Establish and implement your team’s daily workflows and procedures that enable them to work efficiently and safely across trolley collection, cleaning, and waste support services;
  • Act as a coach, and mentor your team by actively seeking opportunities for them to learn new skills (either through multi-skilling or up-skilling) which enables them to further their retail career;
  • Ensure the machinery and equipment are used and implemented at the standard required; and
  • Collaborate with the Proactive Services team and Store Managers to ensure that the delivery of this service is optimised.

We’re looking for an individual who has the interpersonal ability to drive alignment across different functions and sites. Given the nature of the role, it is preferred you have demonstrated retail experience managing teams larger than 20. As you’ll be provided with the tools and support to support the mobility requirements of the role you will need to have an Australian Drivers License and the flexibility to work 40 hours per week. At times; your working week may require you to work weekends and/or 10-hour shifts.

Your other key attributes may include

  • You’re genuinely excited by the challenge of working in a new start team/function;
  • You consistently strive to be a true leader who wants to, inspire, and engage your teams. You also possess a proven history of coaching and mentoring others; and
  • You demonstrate a strong customer service ethic and understanding of retail operations demands
