The Role
The Store Audit function is a geographically dispersed team across Australia and New Zealand which is a part of the wider Group Internal Audit function within Woolworths Finance. Both the Store Audit and Group Internal Audit functions report to the Audit and Finance Committee, a sub-committee of the Woolworths Board
Our purpose is to provide independent oversight over the key controls for our business within our network of over 1,200 Supermarkets, Metro, Big W and Countdown stores in Australia and New Zealand. As a Store Auditor you will report to the Audit Manager, with responsibility for the planning, execution and continuous improvement of the operational audit program within your state. Execution includes the efficient and effective completion of in-store testing across the Woolworths operational businesses and engaging local, regional and state management representatives.
This role will require interstate and intrastate travel. Professional audit experience although desirable, is not mandatory, if the right applicant has demonstrated business acumen and strong risk assessment skills.
In this role, you will:
- Execute operational audits identifying and assessing key controls.
- Present audit findings in both written and verbal format to clearly communicate to various levels of management.
- Interpret data to provide valuable insights to management.
- Complete root cause analysis of internal control breakdowns.
- Perform timely follow up of issues to ensure agreed actions have been effectively implemented.
- Identify, recommend and support operational improvements in Internal Audit’s own processes and tools.
- Act as an ambassador during audit engagements and whilst engaging with various levels of management.
- Keep abreast and share knowledge of business developments and initiatives.
- Actively contribute to the audit plan and positive team culture.
About You
- Hold a tertiary qualification and/or at least 5 years prior experience
- Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and a curious nature.
- Ability to work with limited direction in ambiguous and changing environments.
- Proven ability to work in fast paced environments, execute with quality and timeliness
- Demonstrate analytical and critical thinking capabilities.
- Ability to interpret and analyse data.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to engage and build relationships with key stakeholders.
- Must be able to travel at a minimum one week per month interstate and intrastate.
