We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Automation Engineer at our Perth Office on a Permanent Full-Time basis.
About this role
As the Automation Engineer you will be required to deliver engineered solutions to Automation applications and substation control which contribute directly to the delivery of electricity to our customers in a safe, reliable, and affordable manner.
To be successful in this role you will need to:
- Analyse a problem and to propose cost effective solutions in its resolution.
- Effectively plan for the most expedient delivery of a given project making the most efficient use of the resources available.
- Manage risk in the delivery of Automation solutions.
- Effectively manage safety-in-design risks in line with the processes and procedures as defined in the Electricity Network Safety Management System
- Be responsible for the delivery of design management services to a project manager or sponsor, covering multiple disciplines associated with assigned projects
- Ensure that key design decisions and priorities are effectively set, ensure project scope is fit-for-purpose, set and monitor design timelines and negotiate agreement on performance indicators (cost, quality, time, risk, resources).
- Where applicable escalate risks and or service delivery concerns to mitigate impact to stakeholders
- Identify opportunities for performance improvement
- Apply skills and knowledge to complete assigned tasks to relevant standards
- Carry out technical tasks associated with design, working as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team
- Where required document variations to procedures, programmes, and processes
About you
We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:
- Degree qualification in Engineering (Electronics / Electrical / Computing) recognised by Engineers Australia as satisfying the academic requirements for appointment as a professional engineer
- Solid engineering experience in SCADA systems, particularly with regard to power transmission and distribution, with an ability to read schematic diagrams.
- Familiarity in the hardware employed and the nomenclature used with regard to Primary and Secondary systems as utilised in Transmission and Distribution Substations.
- A detailed understanding and working knowledge of SCADA system designs, SCADA RTU and Gateway configurations, PLC configuration, HMI configuration, Ethernet switch and router configurations and database systems.
- The ability to operate in the field for prolonged periods of time in remote locations.
- Valid WA Driver’s License Class ‘C’ or ‘C-A’
