About the role:

The Executive Director - Network Strategy and Planning is a pivotal member of our Executive Leadership Team (ELT), tasked with defining and executing strategic initiatives to optimise the regional public transport network. This role demands a visionary leader with a deep understanding of operational efficiencies, strategic rail planning, and network optimisation.

The Executive Director will drive innovation and operational improvements, ensuring V/Line's rail network remains sustainable and responsive to the evolving needs of customers and stakeholders. This role will lead transformative initiatives to enhance the performance, capacity, and reliability of the regional public transport network, positioning V/Line as a contemporary, trusted, efficient, and resilient mode of transportation.



About you:

  • Seasoned executive with extensive experience in transport planning and strategic engagement.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills, enabling effective influence and negotiation.
  • Deep understanding of public sector environments and expectations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a trusted peer within a senior leadership team.
  • Exceptional ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, adept at building and maintaining relationships across a broad stakeholder landscape.
  • Ability to be both hands-on and tactical, as well as strategic and future-focused.
  • Commitment to continuous learning, innovation, and improvement.
  • Ability to advocate for funding, policies, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Expertise in managing complex risks and providing detailed advice on emerging changes.
