Reporting to the Customer Services Manager, could you be our next Services Officer?

About the role

Your role as a Services Officer will be at Wyndham Vale and Tarneit station. Your main duties will involve providing top-notch service to customers on V/Line services and ensuring safety on and around the rail.

Your responsibilities will include selling Myki and V/Net tickets, making platform announcements, assisting passengers, and maintaining the cleanliness of the station and its facilities.

This is a part-time (56 hours per fortnight), ongoing position with a rotating schedule that assists in covering absences and staff shortages. The schedule includes early morning starts (4:30 am) and late evening finishes (2 am). Depending on scheduling and business needs, you may also be asked to work at various stations along the Geelong line.

In this work, you will:

Gain a Certificate 3 in Rail Customer Operations

Train as a reserve conductor

Communicate accurate and timely information to customers about V/Line services and other forms of public transportation

Self-manage your time in-between services

Identify and report safety hazards or incidents

Take pride in, and maintain the presentation and cleanliness of the station and its facilities

Ensure safety on and around the station, for customers, colleagues, and yourself

About you

As our next Services Officer, we are seeking self-motivated individuals who prioritise customer service and safety. You will need to be flexible to cover absences and staff shortages at both Wyndham Vale and Tarneit Station.

Successful applicants will be required to undergo pre-employment screening including, probity (police) checks, medical assessment, and Australian entitlement to work. Employees of V/Line are required to maintain a valid Working with Children Check Victoria (Employee) for the duration of employment.

This position is classified as a TRAINEE STATION STAFF ($26.3917) whilst completing a CERT 3 in Rail Customer Operations for 4 weeks in Melbourne and localised On The Job Training. Upon successful completion of the training, the position is then classified as a STN OFF C1 ($39.6386) in accordance with the current V/Line Rail Operations and Administrative Employees Agreement 2019 and is a Medical Category 3 position.

Current employees are expected to remain in their role for a minimum of 12 months before applying to new positions within V/Line.
