About the role
The Fleet Controller role at V/Line is responsible for the planning/monitoring and delivery of the V/Line passenger fleet movements to meet daily business requirements.As a Fleet Controller, you will play a key role in the coordination of daily train operations to minimize delays, improve service delivery and reduce OPR costs whilst recording and communicating any variations to the published daily running order to all V/Line staff and other stakeholders in a timely manner.
Key Accountabilities include:
- Working within the integrated Operations centre, the Fleet Controller is responsible for the planning/monitoring and delivery of the V/Line passenger fleet movements to meet daily business requirements.
- Proactively assist with the plan to ensure fleet is in the correct position for revenue services and highlight potential risks.
- Step up fleet during times of disruption to maintain an acceptable level of revenue service whilst minimising negative impacts to rest of the network.
- Roster vehicles for external washes in accordance to wash plan.
- Manage fuelling and maintenance requirements for fleet, allocate fleet for exams according to maintenance schedules.
- Record faults into FMS and where required liaise with Alstom, Drivers, Yard Masters, Workforce Controllers and Conductors to assist with fault reporting and rectification.
- Proactively assist with the plan to ensure fleet is in the correct position for revenue services and highlight potential risks.
- Monitor the Network making sure that any delays or issues are acted on to minimise risk to V/Line fleet.
About you
You will bring with you the ability to perform multiple tasks under pressure in a safety critical environment.
Our ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Demonstrated alignment to V/Line’s values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights.
- You must be available to work across a 24/7 rotating roster including public holidays and weekends.
- Rostering and scheduling experience in a high paced environment (essential) as well as operational experience within a commercial transportationindustry (essential)
- Able to demonstrate sound problem-solving skills and be able to work in a time sensitive environment.
- A background in Fleet Control, Transport, or Airline/Airport operations will be highly regarded.
- Candidates with experience in operations and coordination of transport services outside of rail and aviation are also encouraged to apply.
The successful applicant will be paid in accordance with the current V/Line Rail Operations and Administrative Employee Agreement 2019, SNR OFF D01, $57.6265 per hour.
