About the role
The primary objective of the Engineering Interface Manager is to manage and direct a team of V/Line, Contract, and interface personnel to:
- Interface to the wider business—particularly Network Engineering, Maintenance and Operations—to keep them informed about proposed options and the progression of design work
- Seek the input and endorsement of key stakeholders to develop and progress works
- Be responsible and accountable for the Engineering Change Process for project works
- Contribute to systems engineering reviews, SiD workshops, and stakeholder reviews
- Control project design variation during Project Execution stage
- Assist quality, operational readiness, commissioning, and handover teams in performing their duties
This position is responsible for providing staff a safe workplace, where risks are identified, understood, and managed, and a safe environment for customers and visitors is maintained.
About you
- Tertiary qualification in an Engineering discipline, with 10+ years demonstrated experience and skills in engineering management, preferably in the rail environment.
- Good communication skills with the ability to tailor your technical messages according to your audience.
- Extensive and diverse experience in rail systems across various greenfield and brownfield project environments.
- Ability to drive creative, point-of-difference design solutions that consider economic parameters.
- Ability to oversee the design management process to ensure that projects meet client expectations.
- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.

Essential information
This is a Medical Category 3 role.
The selection process may include assessments, a behavioural event interview, probity (police check), reference checks, and a medical.
To work at V/Line, you must have an Employee Working with Children (WWC) check (or the ability to obtain a WWC check prior to commencing employment).
