Health, Safety & Environment Business Partner (HSE)

The Safety, Sustainability and Risk team play an integral part in delivering this initiative.

About the role

This role is part of the Safety, Sustainability and Risk (SSR) Group and is responsible forproviding onsite specialist advice, technical support, development and promotion of the V/Line Management System to the Annual Works Plan (AWP) Track Renewal Gangs and other stakeholders across the organisation to enable them to meet their HSE and Rail Safety obligations.

Key Accountabilities include:

  • Assist with the implementation, promotion and monitoring of V/Line’s HSE strategy, frameworks, programs, initiatives, supporting systems / platforms and other priorities
  • Partner, influence and coach key roles, to develop their skills and improve HSE knowledge, culture and performance across the workplace; and building team and business capability
  • Assist and support HSE assurance activities by identifying gaps, opportunities, trends or emerging conditions and engaging stakeholders to develop solutions to enhance and improve overall HSE performance
  • Work collaboratively with other HSE BP’s and provide support to other regions / workgroups when required

Key selection criteria for the role;

You will have:

  • Certificate IV in W/OHS (essential)
  • Tertiary qualification to degree level in Health and Safety is advantageous
  • Experience in working with integrated management systems, in particular ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001
  • Technical knowledge in W/OHS with experience in a similar role, ideally within an operational environment
  • Rail, construction and/or heavy industry experience highly advantageous
  • Competencies in Risk, Audit and Investigation methodologies
  • Hold a current unrestricted Victorian Drivers Licence
  • You will have strong communication skills, strong attention to detail and experience developing effective working relationships with a regionally dispersed workforce stakeholder engagement
  • Flexibility to travel within Victoria which may require overnight stays/shift work
  • Experience utilising Office 365 applications, PowerBI, JD Edwards and other productivity platforms / safety software
  • Resilience, the ability to learn quickly partnered with strong problem-solving skills will set you up for success.
