Service Officer, Ararat (Permanent Part-Time, 40-hours/fortnight)

About the role
The Service Officer is permanent part-time (40 hours per fortnight minimum), with a 4-week, rotating roster that includes early starts, late finishes & public holidays.
As a member of the Customer Department, you will manage the day-to-day operating facilities and customer service activities at the station. You will be responsible for the delivery of information and assistance to customers ensuring the provision of best possible train and coach service to V/Line’s passengers.
In this work, you will:
§ Sell tickets and provide up-to-date information to customers regarding services and changes to services as required, ensuring coaches are organized and coordinated effectively for special events, disruptions, and closures
§ Provide ‘Safeworking’ to ensure safe and on time train running
§ Work collaboratively within the team and wider functions
§ Always ensure the safety of colleagues and customers
§ May have to work as an emergency conductor when needed
§ Maintain the presentation and cleanliness of the station
§ Successful completion of Year 10 (minimum)
§ Victorian Driver Licence
§ Willingness & ability to travel to other stations, to provide service along the line
§ Availability for shift work & overtime
§ Previous face-to-face customer service experience and a demonstrated commitment to workplace safety
About you
Previous experience in face-to-face customer service and an operational environment is an advantage; so is having good situational awareness along with demonstrating that you value safety and make it a key workplace priority.
Previous experience in rail or transport would be ideal. Or, you may have a background in hospitality, retail, supply, manufacturing, care work, or any profession that values safety equally with service.

This position is classified as a TRAINEE STATION STAFF ($26.3917) whilst doing full-time, classroom-based training for 4-6 weeks.
Upon successful completion of the training, this part-time position, at 40-hour/fortnight, is then classified as STN OFF C2 ($41.1597), with pay & conditions in accordance with the current V/Line Rail Operations and Administrative Employees Agreement 2019.
Please note, this is a part-time opportunity (40 hours per fortnight), with a 4-week, rotating-roster that includes early starts, late finishes & public holidays.
It is a Medical Category 2 position.
