About the role

We’re looking for a Head of Internal Communications to develop and implement internal communication strategies and plans that engage, connect and inspire our people.

Acting as the 2IC to the Director – Corporate Communications and working closely with leaders from across the organisation, this new role is responsible for supporting effective group and organisation-wide internal communications, including managing any associated risks. As a small and dynamic team, we are looking for a hands-on professional to lead the development of creative and engaging content, campaigns and events for dynamic and regionally dispersed employees including frontline staff.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Develop and implement internal communications strategies and campaigns to achieve V/Line’s strategic objectives.
  • Build effective internal stakeholder relationships to identify issues, provide advice and drive alignment.
  • Lead the development of compelling content for internal channels, including speeches and briefs for the CEO.
  • Actively contribute to the development and implementation of an organisation-wide digital strategy, focused on strengthening communications and engagement.
  • Manage a small team of communications advisers and provide high quality advice and support to the Director – Corporate Communications.

About you

To meet the challenges of this position, you will come with demonstrated senior communications and engagement experience and the ability to develop engaging and authentic messages and content.

Our ideal candidate will possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Public Relations and/or Marketing or related field.
  • Demonstrated alignment to V/Line’s values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights.
  • Strategic thinking skills with demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and evaluating effective communication strategies.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to write for a diverse range of audiences and channels, with a close attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated experience building trusted partnerships with internal stakeholders across all levels of seniority.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, including the ability to work autonomously and thrive in a fast-paced environment balancing multiple projects simultaneously.
