The Role

Based in our East Perth office reporting to the Project Finance Manager and working closely with the Operations Team, the successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of duties in the monthly accounting cycle. Your strong knowledge of the Oil and Gas industry accounting, analysis, reconciliation, excellent computer skills, especially in SAP, and ability to work individually as well as in a team in a fast-paced environment makes you an ideal candidate.

This position will be responsible for joint venture related accounting activities, including monthly close, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, data analysis, journal entries and account reconciliations according to the close calendar.

Duties will include but not limited to:

• Managing the status of billing claims, liaise with the client to resolve any problems and ensure all clients remain informed of outstanding claims.
• Analyse and reconcile bank statements and general ledgers.
• Post accounts payable/receivable invoices and payment allocations.
• Post journal entries for accrued expenses and revenue.
• Post journal entries applicable to Ventia accounting close, including elimination and consolidation entries.
• Assist with Gross margin & OH performance analysis including commentary on key drivers of variance.
• Other ad hoc reports as and when required.
• Ensure continuous improvement by developing and refining month-end processes
• Streamline procedures and create efficiencies which enable timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Ensure financial controls and processes are followed.

Requirements:

• 2 - 5 year’s experience as a Project accountant, or similar ideally with a focus on Joint Venture.
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (Commerce, Accounting etc.) studying towards CPA/CIMA would be advantageous.
• Advanced working knowledge of SAP
• High level of attention to detail/accuracy and ability to work independently as well as part of the team.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels and across divisions.
