As Engagement and Communications Manager, you will be responsible for developing and managing engagement projects across a diverse program of initiatives.

Leveraging your vast experience in engagement and communications project delivery, you will tailor engagement and communications activity spanning research translation, industry-academic research partnerships, business development, new enterprise spinouts, organisational cultural change and capability building.

Working closely with the TRaCE Business Unit and University Marketing and Communications team you will play a critical role in boosting the public profile of the TRaCE Program and facilitate awareness of emerging knowledge, technology and opportunities in recycling and clean energy industries.

You will bring a keen interest in clean energy and recycling related solutions, and a passion for driving achievements with impact.

The Trailblazer for Recycling and Clean Energy (TRaCE) Program aims to accelerate the development of clean energy and recycling technologies from research to products into global markets.

The $280M program spans the innovation lifecycle, from research and commercialisation through to de-risking, demonstration, deployment, and manufacturing, and is underpinned by critical workforce skills, cultural change, and university workplace reform. TRaCE will create new patents, bring new products to market, deliver critical skills for the recycling and clean energy economy, and contribute to our net zero emissions target.

In this role you will:

  • Drive the development and execution of strategic engagement plans, marketing activities, and communication initiatives.
  • Manage and execute the creation of engaging content for internal and external audiences, and monitor and evaluate their impact.
  • Coordinate the delivery of TRaCE events including the management of event logistics and stakeholder enquiries as well as facilitating media engagement.

This fixed term (until Sept ’27) position is part time (0.6FTE) and will be located at the Callaghan Campus (Awabakal and Worimi land).


How will you inspire us?

You will have:

  • Demonstrated experience planning and executing successful engagement initiatives in a large, complex environment.
  • Strong engagement and stakeholder management skills, with ability to manage multiple priorities whilst maintaining a high level of client service.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex ideas into clear, engaging messages.
  • Proven project management and leadership abilities, including coordinating expertise and successfully managing and inspiring multi-disciplined teams to deliver under a coordinated plan.


What we offer

The remuneration for this position is from $102,667 to $119,778 pro-rated + 17% superannuation and is commensurate with skills and experience.

  1. Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent experience, or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training, and experience in a similar role, or in science communications will be highly valued.

  3. Demonstrated writing skills, with strong attention to detail and talent for creating audience-specific content in a range of formats and distilling complex information into clear messages.
  4. Excellent project management skills and the ability to lead and balance multiple projects of varying importance, scale, co-ordination effort, and stakeholder involvement to meet required deadlines taking into account cost and quality parameters.
  5. Demonstrated superior interpersonal communication and negotiation skills, including the ability to negotiate and influence desirable outcomes with diverse stakeholders.
  6. Extensive knowledge of engagement management tools such as customer relationship management databases and communication platforms including traditional, digital, and social media channels.
  7. Proven collaborative and team-oriented approach as well as the ability to work independently and autonomously.
