Senior Legal Counsel
Together with the Victorian Government, Transurban is working to develop and deliver the West Gate Tunnel Project (WGT Project). This project will address some of Melbourne's biggest growth, transport and liveability challenges. It provides a much-needed alternative to the West Gate Bridge and additional lanes and smart technology on Melbourne's critical M1 corridor.
You'll be a valued team member responsible for providing high quality legal advice on one of Transurban's key projects, the West Gate Tunnel Project. You'll meet legal obligations, mitigate and manage risks, all the while seeking maximum alignment with the Group's business objectives and protection of its interests and reputation. You'll be the go to person for the provision of legal advice on commercial proposals and transactions, and regulatory issues.

This is a 3-year fixed term contract.
The impact you'll have:
- You'll provide timely, relevant and cost-effective advice on all legal matters relating to the WGT Project , helping the business to achieve successful outcomes while managing legal and compliance risks and requirements.
- You'll monitor legislative developments, ensuring that key stakeholders are kept abreast of changes in laws, anticipating the legal needs of the business by identifying legal trends, risk and compliance issues and opportunities.
- You're commercial, engaging, and a natural builder of relationships - you'll enjoy getting on the front foot, embedding yourself in the business and connecting with stakeholders.
The talents you'll bring:
- Degree qualified in law, you'll bring 10+ years post qualification experience from a tier one law firm or in-house role within a large corporate
- Enjoying a varied portfolio of work, ideally, you'll have experience in a law firm or relevant experience of front end construction. You'll be experienced in major infrastructure project delivery including Public Private Partnerships.
- Technically sound and with and proven research skills, you'll have a demonstrated ability to understand, interpret and apply legislation, leading to effective business outcomes
- Commercially astute with a proactive approach to managing risk, you'll be experienced in drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts
- A natural relationship-builder and communicator, you can engage, influence and collaborate effectively and tactfully in challenging circumstances
