Liability Claims & Recoveries Officer
Transport for NSW is the lead agency of the NSW Transport cluster. Our role is to lead the development of a safe, efficient, integrated transport system that keeps people and goods moving, connects communities and shapes the future of our cities, centres and regions.
We are responsible for strategy, planning, policy, regulation, funding allocation and other non-service delivery functions for all modes of transport in NSW including road, rail, ferry, light rail, point to point, regional air, cycling and walking.
We focus on improving the customer experience and contract public and private operators to deliver customer-focused transport services on our behalf.
We also lead the procurement of transport infrastructure and oversee delivery through project delivery offices and industry delivery partners.

The opportunity
Exciting new opportunity now exists for a Liability Claims & Recoveries Officer within Transport Shared Services- Finance & Procurement team in our Corporate Services division. This is a Permanent full time opportunity, based in Burwood however with the current COVID environment the incumbent of the role will have the option of working from home.
The role of the Liability Claims & Recoveries Officer provides a high standard of customer service in a business support role ensuring quality, prompt and efficient service in relation to managing liability claims, within delegated authority, in compliance with legislation and policies. The position is responsible for providing advice to internal clients, maintaining effective relationships with key stakeholders and ensuring implementation of strategies designed to reduce claims costs and minimise insurance premiums.
The Claims Officer works in a dynamic team environment, assisting and complementing the work of others in Liability Claims management in ensuring sound claim and optimal customer service standards are achieved.

Essential Requirements:
- Extensive knowledge and experience in public liability claims and recoveries management in a large organisation or with an insurer
- Detailed and up-to-date knowledge of relevant insurance legislation and regulations and of current requirements and practices relating to government organisations.
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of customer experience and advanced skill in building rapport, understanding stakeholder requirements and resolving concerns.
- Strong capability to communicate clearly, concisely and appropriately both orally and in writing.
- Sound numeracy ability with solid analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to adapt and to learn and implement new processes and procedures as new technology, service requirements and work methods emerge
Salary and Benefits
The salary for this position is Transport Grade 6 ($92,982 to $102,280) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
