Transport for NSW is the lead agency of the NSW Transport cluster. Our role is to lead the development of a safe, efficient, integrated transport system that keeps people and goods moving, connects communities and shapes the future of our cities, centres and regions.

We are responsible for strategy, planning, policy, regulation, funding allocation and other non-service delivery functions for all modes of transport in NSW including road, rail, ferry, light rail, point to point, regional air, cycling and walking.
We focus on improving the customer experience and contract public and private operators to deliver customer-focused transport services on our behalf.

We also lead the procurement of transport infrastructure and oversee delivery through project delivery offices and industry delivery partners.

The opportunity

The Regional and Outer Metropolitan division is focused on understanding the particular needs of regional communities across NSW and delivering customer-centred integrated transport services and infrastructure.

Right now, we have multiple permanent full-time opportunities for Road Workers to join us in the Regional Maintenance Delivery team in either Deniliquin or Hay, NSW. These crews are committed to maintenance works across mid-western regional district.

You will undertake a range of duties to support the efficient maintenance of road infrastructure within NSW, including but not limited to:

  • maintenance of established pavements
  • construction of new or enhanced pavements
  • establishment and maintenance of roadside fixtures and signage
  • application of road marking materials
  • application of bituminous sealing materials
  • establishment and maintenance of traffic signals and driver aid devices

You may also be required to work outside normal working hours. You must be able to attend after hour call-outs as well as be prepared to travel throughout the state and work at locations away from the base station.

Road Workers are provided with thorough training and opportunities to develop professionally.

About you

We’re seeking versatile and proactive workers, who are used to working in teams and camping away from home, and are ready to give 100%.

You are a practical thinker, quick learner and great communicator who enjoys being physically active performing outdoor manual tasks involving the use of hand tools and equipment within a team setting. You hold a White Card, current driver licence and are able to work outside normal working hours, attend call-outs, travel across the region and camp away from home when needed.

Traffic control certificates will be required upon commencement. Additional skills or experience in plant machinery is advantageous but not essential.

Wage and Benefits

The wage for this position is Road Worker Grade 1-3 ($1132.20 - $ 1193.09) per week plus superannuation.
