Program Manager
Transport for NSW is the lead agency of the NSW Transport cluster. Our role is to lead the development of a safe, efficient, integrated transport system that keeps people and goods moving, connects communities and shapes the future of our cities, centres and regions.
We are responsible for strategy, planning, policy, regulation, funding allocation and other non-service delivery functions for all modes of transport in NSW including road, rail, ferry, light rail, point to point, regional air, cycling and walking.
We focus on improving the customer experience and contract public and private operators to deliver customer-focused transport services on our behalf.
We also lead the procurement of transport infrastructure and oversee delivery through project delivery offices and industry delivery partners.

About the team
Major Works is the major brownfield maintenance & construction hub at Sydney Trains. Providing Engineering and Maintenance work across the Sydney Trains Network within a project construction environment.
The role falls within the Projects Team which is a smaller specialised group overseeing the more complex multidisciplinary projects and programs as part of the Annual Works Program (AWP). The team is ultimately accountable for project management and governance. The AWP has a value of up to $500 million.
The Opportunity
Our Major Works division are looking for a Program Manager (Civil) to join our high performing team at our Clyde HUB. The role is a temporary full time 12 month appointment with the possibility of further extensions.
The Program Manager plans, coordinates and manages programs and/or projects, of a single or multi-disciplined nature, within Major Works. This role is accountable for delivery of project outcomes in line with the Major Works’ annual program of work. They manage project scope, cost, schedule, risk, quality, communications, and change controls.
The Program Manager defines the timeline and sequence of activities and work with the Engineer and Support Team (e.g. Works Manager and/or Site Manager) (where appropriate) to engage and mobilise the appropriate Project Operations teams or contractors to carry out the work. The Program Manager is responsible for using high maturity project management practices and sharing knowledge across project teams.
This role will focus on the Civil Construction Programs & Projects within the team.
About you
You are tertiary qualified in Engineering / Project Management and/or have equivalent experience in delivering large complex projects, highly technical with very different stakeholders in a compressed timeframe. Having a leadership ethos will be crucial for on-time delivery within budgetary constraints.
We are expecting a certain level of seniority as there will be high profile projects involved as part of the portfolio. Communications skills will be key as well as balancing your stakeholder’s expectations vs the business expectations.
Salary and benefits
The salary for this position is $143,555 - $157,945 per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
