Transport for NSW is the lead agency of the NSW Transport cluster. Our role is to lead the development of a safe, efficient, integrated transport system that keeps people and goods moving, connects communities and shapes the future of our cities, centres and regions.
We are responsible for strategy, planning, policy, regulation, funding allocation and other non-service delivery functions for all modes of transport in NSW including road, rail, ferry, light rail, point to point, regional air, cycling and walking.
We focus on improving the customer experience and contract public and private operators to deliver customer-focused transport services on our behalf.
We also lead the procurement of transport infrastructure and oversee delivery through project delivery offices and industry delivery partners.

About the Team
The Safety, Environment and Regulation (SER) division upholds safety and sustainability in our transport system. We’re working to deliver globally-recognised, safe, sustainable transport for our people, customers and the community.
As part of the Safety Division within SER there is a team of 20 Safety professionals involved in a variety of projects, this role is located in a smaller team of 5 involved in the WHS partnering of various infrastructure (road and bridge) projects located across southern and western NSW.
The opportunity
Right now, we have an opportunity (Fixed Term Contract for 4 years) for a safety professional with infrastructure experience to join the team working on the Princes Highway Upgrade Project (PHUP), along with other projects, where your main focus is to partner with project teams providing subject matter expertise in relation to WHS, particularly around contemporary approaches and practices.
You will be involved in:
- Influencing project teams and supporting capability development to deliver programs, processes and work practices that align with the TfNSW Safety Management System (SMS) requirements appropriate to the operational environment of the Southern and Western Project Office branch.
- Interfacing with TfNSW and Industry Partner project teams to support the effective implementation of the agreed project-specific WHS and HV CoR management plans, ensure that Industry Partners are compliant with contractual obligations and requirements for better WHS practices and outcomes for each project.
- Providing expert knowledge, advice and coaching across WHS legislation, policies and processes to key stakeholders, and supporting the implementation of WHS solutions to influence better practice WHS performance and regulatory compliance.
- Partnering with key stakeholders to support and influence positive outcomes in all safety design, operational, management, regulatory and legislative requirements of TfNSW in relation to the PHUP and other infrastructure projects.
- Undertaking assurance activities to identify areas for improvement in systems, processes, activities, and behaviours associated with project design and delivery

About you
We are looking for an experienced WHS professional who is an excellent communicator with relationship management and influencing skills to fulfil this role which commands strong stakeholder management skills.
You will have demonstrated experience working on large infrastructure projects, including roads and bridges and will be used to working with the project teams located on site as well as liaising with head office team and stakeholders.
It is preferred that you have demonstrated abilities to assist in provision of advice in the safe design to ensure that work throughout the asset lifecycle can be completed safely.
As a reliable, flexible, hardworking, diligent, knowledgeable, team player you will also have the ability to work autonomously, taking responsibility for your work and travelling whenever and wherever is necessary to partner with the various stakeholders where you will be undertaking a variety of safety related work including providing advice, coaching, mentoring and influencing.
Salary and Benefits
The salary for this position is USS Grade 11 ($142,300 - $151,837) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
