About the role
We are looking for an experienced HR Manager to join our team at the Lake Vermont project in the Bowen Basin. Reporting to the Lake Vermont - Project Manager, in this role you would be responsible for coordinating the full spectrum of human resources support to the project. This includes the coordination of various activities including performance and talent management, recruitment, industrial relations HR analysis, systems, reporting, diversity and inclusions initiatives.
The primary functions of this role will see you:
- Provide advice, training, coaching and support to managers ensuring they are informed of their obligations when managing HR and IR issues
- Responsible for leading a high performing team, consisting of a Senior HR Advisor, HR Officer and HR Administrator
- Provide expertise regarding performance appraisals, disciplinary procedures, disputes and dismissals
- Support the wider Queensland HR team in the delivery of all aspects of HR and IR activities for the Project
- Support in the development, implementation and maintenance of effective people strategies and initiatives.
- Work with the site leadership team to embed the Thiess culture within the project, with a key focus on the development of our people
This is a site-based role on a 5/2 (Monday to Friday) roster, with one rostered day off per month. Flights from Brisbane or local living options are also available for this position.
The Lake Vermont Project is situated outside of Dysart in Central Queensland. The Lake Vermont project is one of Thiess' largest and longest running projects.
About you
To be considered for this role you are required to have:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or currently studying towards will be highly regarded.
- Human resources experience in fast paced environment is highly desirable.
- Strong computer skills including an advanced understanding of the Microsoft Office package
- A high level of oral and written communication skills
- Effective problem-solving ability
- The ability to plan, organise and resource effectively to coordinate multiple priorities
- High level of time management and attention to detail
- Experience supporting a large and dynamic mining workforce highly desirable
