JOB DESCRIPTION

About the Role

The HSW Coordinator is responsible for, driving the proactive implementation and continual improvement of Health, Safety and Wellbeing culture, strategy, plan, and performance.

Implement HSW initiatives by providing technical assistance in the identification, evaluation, and control of workplace hazards.

You will ensure the focus areas and activities of the business are holistically carried out in line with the Team Global Express (TGE) values and a single strategy must be enabled through ensuring a unified culture of safety, people, customer focus and operational excellence is in place.

You will have the opportunity to translate and implement the TGE HSW strategy and plan, provide Health and Safety support to minimise fatalities, injuries, disease, and ill health and lead organisational change to drive a positive safety culture and achieve HSW objectives and targets.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Based at Perth Airport servicing surrounding areas
  • Identify health and safety legislative requirements and changes as it applies to their Business and with the agreement and approval of management integrate into the Health and Safety Management System.
  • Provide advice, support and information for the availability and implementation of the Health and Safety Policy, Health Safety & Wellbeing Management System, safety leadership and behavioural program by line management.
  • Conduct governance activities, data analysis, research and other technical health and safety work to assure quality application and ongoing improvement of the HSW management system, safety leadership and behavioural program.
  • Provide technical input to HSW planning, HSW risk management and management review processes e.g. dangerous goods, emergency preparedness.
  • Assist management with developing, monitoring, and reviewing in consultation with employees the Business Health, Safety and Environment Management System and HSW Plan with its objectives and targets. Communicate results within the business.
  • Support operational management to ensure that HSW responsibilities of employees (including contractors) are effectively communicated.
  • Provide professional advice to management with identifying and providing training to ensure that required health and safety competencies are met and reviewed.
  • Facilitate health and safety consultation, co-operation, and co-ordination processes with employees in accordance with the relevant legislative and TGE requirements.
  • Provide professional advice to management to assist with health and safety communication and reporting to employees and external parties such as customers, contractors, and public authorities.
  • Regularly review health and safety documentation for currency and application and ensure that employees have access to relevant documents.
  • Provide health surveillance for employees when a specific health risk has been identified in line with TGE requirements.
  • Provide advice and assistance to ensure the thorough investigation of incidents and the appropriateness of corrective actions to prevent a recurrence and eliminate or otherwise minimise risk.
  • Follow the TGE Groups HSWQ management system and utilise the procedures and programs provided to manage health and safety records.
  • Undertake health and safety audits and/or arrange for 3rd party health and safety audits and complete any corrective actions required.
  • Follow up on audit actions to ensure there on-going effectiveness.

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment preferred
  • Auditor and Lead Auditor Qualification Desirable
  • 2-5 years’ experience in a HSW role
  • Experience in relationship management of both internal clients and external stakeholders.
  • High level of Microsoft skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent working knowledge of HSW
  • Experience in working in large complex global organisations
  • Experience in HSW systems implementation preferred
  • Experience in working in supply chain is preferred
  • Experience with regards to identifying and managing manual handling risks preferred
  • Able to demonstrate the highest level of confidentiality at all times
