The Opportunity
Reporting to the General Manager Sustainable Infrastructure Services, the Chief Scientist will act as TasWater’s primary technical advisor on scientific matters including water, health, and environmental issues.
Stakeholder relationships are key, with the Chief Scientist partnering with regulators on a collaborative basis to achieve positive outcomes for TasWater, its community, and the environment. You will also be responsible for leading and overseeing research initiatives and delivering on those initiatives to meet TasWater’s strategic objectives. In addition, you will have accountability for promoting a culture of innovation across the business.
To be successful in this role, you will be strategic leader in the water or environment adjacent sectors with demonstrated experience providing expert guidance and insight on scientific matters across water, health and environmental matters. Your exceptional stakeholder management, engagement, and influencing skills combined with public presentation and community engagement expertise will be highly regarded and enable you to develop and communicate complex science-based material to a wide range of audiences. Credibility as a thought leader on emerging trends and technologies in water and environment sustainability would also be advantageous.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Chief Scientist to join the TasWater team and contribute to the overall success of the organisation.
This role can be based at either Hobart, Launceston, or Devonport.
