The Opportunity

Come join our team and make a real contribution to where you live, by operating and maintaining our assets so that safe and reliable water and wastewater services can be provided to the communities in and around the greater Hobart area.

This is a permanent full-time position. You will enjoy a 9-day fortnight and a salary package of $77 - 86K per annum (including superannuation), plus on call allowances.

Key Accountabilities

  • Operate, maintain and repair water and wastewater infrastructure.
  • Assess and report on asset condition.
  • Use technology to complete operational records including work logs and data entry tasks.
  • Conduct in-field water sampling and reporting of data to ensure drinking water is meeting guidelines
  • Participate in on-call and planned overtime rosters and respond to emergency call-out situations.

Your Application

We are looking for both experienced Operators/Technicians/Tradespeople and those who may not have worked in this type of role before, but who have great customer service skills, who are handy at repairs and maintenance, and who love giving back to their community.
Your trade background could be from plumbing, fitting, welding or mechanics. You may even be an engineer or laboratory technician who would like to get some field/hands on experience of water supply and maintenance. What is essential is great attention to detail, and the ability to work in small team towards a common goal. 

The position has a range of physical requirements, including heavy lifting, kneeling, confined space tasks, regular long-distance walking, and exposure to extreme weather. Please be advised that successful candidates will be required to undertake a pre-employment medical assessment prior to an offer of employment being made.
