Production Technician / Power Station Operator
About the role
The Production Technician, also known as a Power Station Operator, works within the Operations Shift team, that runs and monitors Tarong Power Stations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Take appropriate action in the event of abnormal plant conditions to minimise adverse impacts on plant availability, environment and safe working conditions.
- Provide emergency and initial control response actions in the event of plant failures or abnormal operations conditions.
- Identify potential problems through routine inspections and troubleshooting of operational problems.
- Prioritise work and maintain the flexibility to meet daily operational demands.
Based at our Tarong Power Stations near Kingaroy QLD, this is a permanent full-time role reporting to a Shift Superintendent.
About you
We are looking for someone who has coal fired power station experience, ideally in an Operator position.
Other skills and experience required include:
- Highly developed troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Ability to make timely decisions based on available information.
- Ability to write reports and keep accurate and comprehensive records.
- Trade qualified in an appropriate electrical or mechanical or its equivalent.
- Statutory certification of competency for Advanced or Intermediate Boiler/Turbine in QLD.
