About the Role
As a Sports Trader – Combat Sports, you will be tasked with using your analytical and innovative mindset to service exciting, bespoke products to Flutter brands across some of the biggest Combat Sports events of the year.
Flutter is home to some of the most renowned brands in the betting and gaming industry, including Sportsbet, FanDuel, Paddy Power, Betfair, and Sky Betting & Gaming. Within this dynamic environment, the Sports Trader – Combat Sports role plays a crucial role in the Risk and Trade division, with teams located in Melbourne and Dublin and operating in a 24/7 Follow-the-Sun model.
Responsibilities Include
Operational: Utilising our proprietary Combat models for day-to-day operations, this includes price risk management from both a non-live and live state of the event. Support performance updates against KPIs.
Combat Knowledge: Keep up to date with the latest news, player stats, customer behaviours and industry prices to give you an edge. Knowledge and understanding of sports will assist in the live trading process.
Stakeholder Relationships: Collaborate with our team of global sport enthusiasts and data stars to devise creative strategies to inform decision-making. Opportunity to build local networks as well to help assist the growth of Combat codes locally. Collaboration with the risk team to manage our liability positions and reduce risk on each event.
Commercial: Opportunity to impact and grow UFC and Boxing for the Flutter brand and for Sportsbet. Learning all facets including budgeting and forecasting in future. Contribution to global and local strategies
Risk Management: Collaborate with the risk team to monitor and manage liability positions, ensuring optimal risk management during events.
Product Ownership: Take an active role in developing and evolving the product, contributing to its growth and success.
We don’t expect anyone to walk in the door and know everything at the start, so we take our training seriously and make sure that the successful candidate is well supported. This role is a hybrid position that has ability to work from home a few days per week, however at the start of your role, we require most days to be in the Melbourne office to help with training and onboarding.
What we’ll need from you:
- Strong attention to detail, critical thinking capability and the ability to problem solve
- Ability to stay organised and efficient, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal, relational skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders globally and locally
- Display resilience and initiative, while acting with a high level of integrity
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in (mathematics, statistics, analytics, finance, accounting, etc) OR strong ability & interest in data and numbers

Salary Range: $75,000 - $95,000 inclusive of superannuation (based on experience)
