The Design Engineer is responsible for the design of systems, subsystems and components of military vehicles and equipment over the product life cycle. The Design Engineer is an integral part of the

Engineering Capability Matrix and will conduct work within cross functional project specific teams.

As a Design Engineer, you can anticipate some of your day-to-day tasks to include:

  • Conceive and select concepts in response to Requirements using a range of tools and methods including weighted Trade Off Studies, FMECA etc.;
  • Realise selected concepts into documented prototype designs using integrated PDM/CAD (AGILE/TEAMCENTER/NX/E3);
  • Support manufacture and verification of prototypes and incorporate test results as appropriate;
  • Develop, release and maintain production documentation;
  • Participate in formal and informal Design Reviews;
  • Provide problem solving and continuous improvement support to Production and Through Life
  • Support; and
  • Fulfil other duties and responsibilities that may be required as determined with your manager from time to time.

About your new team

We are delivering several Major programs whilst developing new products across our tactical and logistic product ranges. We have immediate vacancies available for experienced mechanical design engineers to be based at either, MILVEHCOE (Military Vehicle Centre of Excellence) in Redbank, Brisbane or our Melbourne office.

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:

  • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering that is recognised by The Institute of Engineers Australia;
  • 3 - 12 years' experience;
  • Have excellent written English communication skills using automotive engineering terminology;
  • Ability to travel internationally and interstate, when required; and
  • Must hold or be eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (must hold Australian Citizenship).
