Your opportunity:
As the primary interface with Urban Utilities customers, the Customer Delivery Group is accountable for delivering accurate and timely bills to 625,000 customers in our service territory every quarter! We manage all associated customer interactions, first response to faults & emergency, customer complaints, privacy and case management, and Urban Utilities’ 500,000+ network of water meters. It’s important work and we love giving our customers a great experience, building trusted relationships and making a real and lasting impact!
We are currently seeking a customer-centric RTI and Privacy Officer to join our Customer Delivery group on an initial 6 month contract. Your primary responsibility will be ensuring compliance with Urban Utilities legislative obligations under the Right to Information Act 2009 (Qld) and Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld). Alongside Urban Utilities Policy, RTI and Privacy Lead roles, this role will perform the function of Delegated Right to Information Officer and where required support Privacy activities for Queensland Urban Utilities.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide specialist guidance on the interpretation and application of RTI matters
- Resolve complex or contentious queries and issues, enabling others to take appropriate actions.
- Use policies, procedures, and related guidelines to ensure adherence with applicable industry regulations, standards, and compliance requirements, including embedding and providing guidance and support to the business on Queensland Urban Utilities’ Right to Information obligations and Privacy Management Framework.
- Liaise with customers and the Office of the Information Commissioner (Queensland), as well as working closely with various internal teams in relation to the processing of access applications received under the Right to Information Act 2009 (Qld) and Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld).
- Write and edit material for various target populations, tailoring the tone and content to match the needs and expectations of each audience. This includes responding to Right to Information and Information Privacy related complaints and providing advice internally to the business and preparing briefing notes and other documents for the Senior Management.
About You
We are seeking candidates who are passionate about shaping our future, and ideally have the following qualifications, skills and experiences:
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build high level and trusted working relationships
- Demonstrated experience in a government policy, regulatory compliance or advisory or similar role.
- Demonstrated experience in applying and interpreting legislation, including three years relevant decision making.
- Qualifications in Public Administration, Law, Political Science, Business or other relevant disciplines Law is desirable, but not essential.
