About us

As a department our purpose is to help the community to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from the impact of fire and emergency events.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is the primary provider of fire, rescue and emergency management programs and services throughout Queensland. The department encompasses the Fire and Rescue Service, disaster management services, the Rural Fire Service and the State Emergency Service, and also supports other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders.

QFES is one department with many services, many capabilities and many partners.

Purpose of the role

Uniforms and Logistics is responsible for the provision of uniforms, personal protective equipment (PPE) and operational equipment to all services and streams of the department, including monitoring and improving distribution systems, processes and uniform standards to support the QFES Uniforms and Logistics Program service delivery capability.

Reporting to the Category Manager, you will be a key member of the team assisting with sourcing initiatives and projects to equip QFES staff and volunteers with uniforms, PPE and operational equipment. You will be required to work collaboratively with QFES staff, volunteers and key stakeholders to provide fit for purpose products and services through efficient and cost-effective procurement sourcing arrangements in accordance with the Queensland Procurement Policy, Queensland Government Contract Management Framework, financial management practices and departmental policies and procedures.

Your key accountabilities

Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting key frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to:

  • Maintain governance and controls for the effective administration of the Uniforms and Logistics program.
  • Contribute to the development of category plans and deliver key projects and initiatives, including coordinating input from technical and operational areas to support procurement of equipment and uniforms.
  • Provide research, analysis and reporting on information relevant to allocated projects and monitor activities and deliverables to support operational requirements.
  • Interpret and apply legislation, standards and instructions relating to procurement, supply and delivery of uniforms, PPE and operational equipment for QFES staff and volunteers.
  • Undertake sourcing initiatives including research and development of specifications, tendering documents, evaluation and implementation of quality products and services within the required timeframes,
  • Assist with the administration of supplier contractual performance including the development of contract management plans, regular monitoring and reporting of supplier performance and contract effectiveness.
  • Prepare and review submissions, reports and correspondence on related issues, initiatives and project activities in accordance with departmental requirements.
  • Develop and maintain professional and effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders ensuring services are responsive to current and future needs.
