Knowing you're responsible for providing an essential service upon which thousands of lives and businesses depend, is a sure-fire way to feel valued and deeply connected to the community.

About our Apprenticeship Program:

Applications are now open for our Apprentice intake, commencing in January 2023.

As an Apprentice Lineworker your main role will be to construct and maintain overhead and underground electrical lines and structures.

Our Apprenticeships run over a four-year period, combining formal TAFE study and paid field work to enable you to gain the skills, competencies and experience required for an industry recognised trade qualification (Certificate III – ESI Distribution, Powerline).

To be eligible, our program pre-requisites are:

  • Year 11 pass in General Mathematics, or undertaking VCAL; or
  • Currently completing (or completed) a pre-apprenticeship TAFE training course in Electrotechnology (Cert II)*.

*If you are currently completing a pre-requisite subject, you are eligible to apply, as long as it has been successfully completed by the end of the 2022 academic year.

We encourage candidates from all backgrounds to consider applying, whether you are leaving school, TAFE, have worked in a different industry or perhaps decided university is not for you. We look for motivation and great team players.

Why us?

  • You’ll attain a qualification or trade whilst earning a competitive remuneration package, with generous superannuation.
  • You will participate directly in field work and gain exposure to industry leading practices with the state’s best performing electricity distribution business.
  • You’ll have the opportunity to work on projects from start to finish, as your development progresses.
  • Your development will be maximised via rotations across multiple teams and areas, to allow you to expand your foundation of skills and capability.
  • We assign each Apprentice a mentor, to ensure your growth is prioritised.

We’re committed to equal opportunities for all employees. With an embedded Inclusion & Diversity Strategy and initiatives like Women in Power Networking Group, Sparkle our LGBTIQ+ allies Pride Network, a commitment to equal pay, true flexibility, generous market leading parental leave, and purchased leave we truly are paving the way for true equality in the workplace.
