About The Position

Reporting to the Senior Development Chemist, you will perform the routine preparation and analysis of refinery and customer samples by instrumental techniques such as ICP-OES, Spark-OES, XRF, titration and classical wet chemical techniques.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs receipt, registration and preparation of refinery customer and product samples.
  • Performs routine analysis of customer deposits, refined products, effluent, environmental, process and electrolyte samples by instrumental techniques such as ICP-OES, Spark-OES, XRF, titration and wet chemical techniques as required.
  • Prepares working stock, calibration and reagent solutions as directed.
  • Performs regular routine maintenance on existing analytical instruments.
  • Conducts and records daily instrument performance checks in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Undertakes test work under the direction of Senior Development Chemist with a view to making improvements in efficiency, accuracy and productivity in the laboratory. Assists in the commissioning of new equipment.
  • Ensure own safety and health at work and avoid adversely affecting the safety or health of any other person through any act or omission at work.

About You

  • Diploma of Laboratory Technology or equivalent desirable
  • Chemistry students/graduates encouraged to apply.
  • Able to obtain a satisfactory national security clearance.
  • Valid Australian Working Visa
  • Pre-employment medical
  • Valid C class driver’s license and own transport
  • Ability to work flexible hours as directed.
