We are looking for an amazing Senior Software Engineers to join our team.

Nearmap Software Engineer’s bring fresh ideas from all areas, including GIS, imagery distribution, 3D modelling, large-scale system design, UI design and mobile; the list goes on and is growing every day. As a Software Engineer, you will work on projects critical to our needs, with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. What we do

We provide easy, instant access to high-resolution aerial imagery, city-scale 3D content, AI datasets and integrated geospatial tools, with wide-scale coverage across the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. At the core of it, we’re a location content company, a visual analytics company, and a software as a service company. Innovation is weaved into our DNA.

What we are looking for

For our Backend API Team:

• Experience in Service Oriented Architecture with continuous integration and software build tools and a passion for continuous delivery.
• Linux, Cloud environments (AWS in particular).
• Go Language (We use Golang however C++, Python, JavaScript or other backend languages are also considered, as long as you are comfortable to learn and work on Go).
• SQL, PostGIS, Aurora.
• Kubernetes or similar container orchestration systems.

For our Front-End Apps Team:

• Designing and building complex front-end products, preferably in a modern JavaScript framework for at least 5 years
• Maintaining test coverage for code you write at the unit and functional levels
• Experience with software build tools and continuous integration tools
• JavaScript, Typescript, React, Redux, HTML, CSS
• A passion for continuous improvement, agile methodologies and lean software development
• GIS framework experience is a plus. We use OpenLayers and Cesium.

A typical day for you may look like this...

• Designing, implementing and deploying highly available and performance-critical APIs or highly-visible, user-facing front-end features.
• Designing and developing major software components and systems OR large scale web applications.
• Driving adoption of best practices in code health, testing, and maintainability.
• Designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining and improving software.
• Managing individual project priorities, deadlines and deliverables.
• Working closely with the wider Engineering team to contribute to improvement initiatives.
• Championing & assisting with implementation of continuous integration and delivery frameworks.
