A fantastic opportunity at nbn, Australia's largest infrastructure project, as a SERC Specialist Operator for the Security & Emergency Response Centre (SERC) reporting to the Manager, where you will be responsible for protecting nbn's infrastructure, people, and assets. The SERC is responsible for the prevention, monitoring, and response to security and emergency events and incidents 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
A bit about your role
In your new role as a SERC Specialist Operator for the SERC, you will work closely with the team to actively carry out daily Operator duties ensuring services are correctly delivered in accordance with standard operating procedures and applicable laws. You will be a point of escalation for any issues or incidents to management. You will do this by using the available work instructions & resources while applying sound judgment and often acting with limited supervision & direction. Willing to work rotating dayshift 8-12 hours, including weekends. The start date of this role is 27th January 2022.
You will perform periodic audits of operational logs and activity, post-incident reviews, and report your findings to management. You will also provide feedback and reporting to identify deficiencies within processes, documentation management, knowledge, and performance to support continuous team improvement. Ongoing focus on these areas will maintain the team's high standard of delivery and improve their capabilities. Has a strong capability and experience delivering Operator training & assessments and employing different training methods and tools to deliver individual training requirements.
In your new role as a SERC Specialist Operator for the Security and Emergency Response Centre, you will be responsible for carrying out SERC'S following services:
- Security Alarm Monitoring & Response for nbn Facilities & Assets.
- CCTV Monitoring & Management
- Access Management of nbn's Critical Infrastructure & Sites
- Electronic Key Cabinet Monitoring & Alarm Response, Access Control, & Incident management
- Access Management of Restricted Network Equipment & Assets
- Security Patrol & Guard Response Dispatch & Management
- Security & Emergency Incident Response and Escalation
- nbn Security Hotline triage
- Security Incident Triage
- Monitoring several National Emergency & Incident Alert Platforms
- International Travel Monitoring & Response
- Vehicle & Reception Duress Alarm Monitoring & Response
- Staff Welfare Management
- Law Enforcement Query Hotline
A bit about you
You will have extensive experience in day-to-day security operations and emergency response functions, a strong understanding of physical security systems, and a proven ability to investigate and report incidents. You will have experience in day-to-day operations within a national monitoring environment and related capability in coordinating security operations using mobile patrol, alarm monitoring response, guarding, and emergency services.
The SERC Specialist Operator will regularly interact with a range of critical stakeholders, including but not limited to; nbn employees, contractors, suppliers, retail service providers, and law enforcement agencies. Such interaction may include speaking with individuals involved directly or indirectly in any emergency and or crisis. Therefore, proven and strong communication skills are imperative for this role. You will also bring experience incorporating process improvement and documentation for a nationwide Security Operation Centre team.
To be successful in this role, you will have proven extensive work experience within a National Monitoring Centre as a shift Operator, training & assessing practices, and maintenance of staff training package & documentation. Strong knowledge of Security alarm monitoring systems and platforms, preferably Honeywell, to participate in user acceptance testing as well as provide support while conducting monthly, planned & adhoc system patching & upgrades.
You will bring strong organisational skills and advanced critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills with a demonstrable ability to work collectively in a team and champion nbn's core values. Holds Security License & Monitoring Accreditation, Certificate IV Training & Assessing, ideally hold a Certificate IV Security Risk Management.
