The role

You are responsible for validation, implementation and ongoing maintenance of various credit risk models utilized by Consumer Business across the entire customer credit life cycle.

The role supports the Credit Risk Head in decision making through the analytic work.

Day to day will include:

  • Execute continuous performance monitoring tasks for existing models and find solutions to models that may show signs of being sub- optimal, and ensure that all models used are fully compliant with local and global regulatory requirements
  • Draw practical and valuable analytics from alternative data sources and ensure that all additional data elements are fully utilized to further optimize the bank’s credit decisions across the customer credit life cycle
  • Collaborate with key business stakeholders including portfolio and policy managers to gather requirements and be able to formulate strategy proposals to address requirements for new models and/or revisions to existing ones, in line with the bank’s risk appetite framework
  • Articulate model functionality and details to NAB model governance team and credit risk policy to obtain necessary approvals to implement new or continue usage of existing models to understand, influence and advise internal and/or external customers and stakeholders.

What you’ll bring:

  • 1 to 2 years’ experience for Risk Analyst. Will consider fresh graduate
  • Minimum 3 years for Senior Risk Analyst
  • Credit reporting, data analyst, model analyst or credit reporting analyst experience
  • Tertiary qualified with a Degree in Business, Statistical or Mathematics and preference to post graduate qualifications
  • SAS programming skills (or similar)
  • Advanced experience in MS-Access/Excel/Word and PowerPoint
  • SQL, Python or R (preferred but not necessary)
  • Ability to present complex statistical information to key stakeholders at differing levels within the bank
  • Basic understanding of consumer lending principles (background in Credit Risk Management preferred, but not necessary)
  • Can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy
