The team, role & responsibilities:

The Fund Sponsors, Strategic Investors and Alternative Assets Client Coverage team is part of NAB’s Corporate & Institutional Banking Business. The FSA Client Coverage team is responsible for origination activity and management of fund sponsors and strategic investors across all their relevant sectors and products. Additionally the team manage the origination activity and management of client relationships across funds, property, resources, energy & utilities, renewable and infrastructure sectors. The FSA Client Coverage team is also responsible for setting and delivering on industry and client strategy.

The Head of Originations role will report directly to the Executive for FSA and will work closely with Sector Heads and Client Directors within the FSA Client Coverage team.

Key responsibilities will include driving origination activity and outstanding client experience across the FSA team by:

  • Building on the successful “Bank for Transition” research series and broader “Bank for Transition” client activities
  • Generating relevant and actionable industry insights and developing practical financial solutions for clients to help them achieve their strategic and financial objectives
  • Building and strengthening relevant relationships and developing a detailed understanding of the relevant opportunities and issues
  • Engaging with key clients and senior stakeholders to deliver meaningful content in support of their business and financial goals
  • Leveraging NAB’s market research, and facilitating the development of additional internal research aligned with RIG’s strategy deliverables
  • Driving external market development through select marketing and thought pieces (targeting 3-5 priority client groups), prioritising high value sector opportunities
  • Delivering business growth by developing processes to support the utilisation and sharing of relevant analytics and insights
  • Partnering with business units inside and outside of CIB to improve the client offering and help deliver a broad, cross platform experience for both FSA clients and clients external to FSA
  • Supporting the development of an overarching business growth strategy and execution plan; including priority client groups
  • Ensuring proactive internal stakeholder management within NAB to ensure support for FSA and its various strategy initiatives by relevant personnel
  • Taking ownership of key planning and review processes (including strategic planning) to ensure positive outcomes for the business and clients
  • Coordinating senior leadership and the management of impromptu events, business requirements and senior escalations to ensure positive outcomes for FSA and clients e.g. owning urgent items to ensure senior business executives can be more effective in these circumstances.

The successful candidate will leverage from a breadth of the following:

  • Significant Strategy/Corporate Finance/Corporate Advisory/Research origination and execution experience within an Investment Banking, Funds Management, Institutional Banking, or ECM environment
  • Fund Sponsors, Strategic Investors and Alternative Assets sectors
  • Demonstrated capability in the delivery of whole platform solutions in support of complex transactions, along with a detailed understanding of capital structuring, cash-flow models, debt & equity products as well as regulatory/industry rules
  • Proven relationships at C suite level
  • Proven ability to articulate and deliver on strategic outcomes
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in business management or law will be advantageous
  • A deep sense of motivation and results focused.
