- 15.2 hours per week on Wednesday & Thursday
- Salary commencing at $40.47 per hour plus 11% superannuation (commensurate with experience)
The Opportunity
The Victorian Government provides funding through the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing to deliver Supported Playgroups for families experiencing disadvantage who would not typically access a community playgroup. Supported Playgroups are for families with children aged birth up until they start primary school.
The key outcomes to be achieved by the Supported Playgroup Facilitator are:
- To provide opportunities for eligible families to develop parenting skills and confidence to support their children's development within a safe and supportive playgroup experience.
- To support and encourage parent involvement in playgroup activities inclusive of in-home learning to improve parent confidence, social connectedness and referral pathways.
- To develop strategic referral pathways with services such as Maternal and Child Health Services, early year's education and care services and family services to ensure families receive services appropriate to their needs.
- To model and support developmentally appropriate play experiences and parent/child interactions at Supported Playgroups and during In-Home Support sessions.
Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Early Education and Care Services, Social Work or equivalent at Diploma level or above.
- Demonstrated experience working within the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework to support children's learning through supported playgroups and in-home support.
- Demonstrated experience in planning, designing and delivering evidence-based parenting strategies (smalltalk) group programs that engage families from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- The ability to develop relationships with key stakeholders and referral sources to develop referral pathways for families.
- Current and valid Victorian Driver's Licence and Working With Children Check.
