The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity to become part of a pool of casual employees working in various different departments at the Council depot in Holmes Road. Successful candidates will be added to our exclusive staff pool, and you’ll be contacted every time we have shifts available. We might offer work to you on a variety of weekends and weekdays.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the safe and effective selection, operation and maintenance of plant, machinery, tools and equipment
- Carry out maintenance of parks, reserves and sports grounds as well as maintenance and general clean up of roads and other council-maintained land
- Undertake basic safety checks and report defects to appropriate Supervisor
- Ensure compliance with all Council policies and procedures in the conduct of operations, including workplace health and safety requirements and all relevant Federal or State legislation and regulations
Skills & Experience
- Ability to work flexible hours, in various conditions with exposure to weather elements
- Ability to operate Plant & Equipment such as bobcats, front end loaders, forklift.
- Light Rigid, Medium Rigid or Heavy Rigid license preferred but not essential
- Demonstrated capacity to learn the use of new equipment and procedures
- Demonstrated reliability and attendance at each shift is on time as needed
- An understanding of Occupational Health and Safety requirements
- Ability to lift heavy material as required
