About the team

Our Operations & Passenger Delivery team is committed to keep Melbourne moving by delivering exceptional passenger experiences through on-time, reliable, safe and efficient services. 

We achieve this through face-to-face interactions by our frontline teams, supported by our safety operations, operational readiness, and network performance teams.

We are currently looking for adynamic Scheduling Officer to research, develop and issue MTM’s daily timetable incorporating all alterations to the master timetable to facilitate operational changes including Special Events, temporary track closures and access to the Metropolitan rail network.

Please note this role is a 18 month Max Term contract.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Support the achievement of Balance Scorecard objectives
  • Adherence to all legislative and regulatory requirements
  • Develop special timetables, often with limited notice, to provide for unexpected events such as, planned occupations industrial disputes, degraded infrastructure, or other events affecting MTM’s rail services including major events such as New Years’ Eve and the Spring Racing Carnival
  • Coordinate alternative transport requirements and track machines movements as a result of complex infrastructure, project, third party and other business requirements
  • Ensure safe and compliant timetable alterations complying with MTM’s franchise obligations.
  • Liaise with other Rail Operators regarding the scheduling and approval of altered and additional non-suburban trains through the MTM Network
  • Transform technical information into useable form including effective use of computer software programs

About You

  • Experience reading train graphs and knowledge of timetable processes and techniques
  • Ability to collect, analyse and present workplace data and information
  • Ability to follow occupational health, safety and environmental procedures in the rail industry
  • Advanced MS Excel skills with experience in software applications including Sharepoint, Adobe and Microsoft Teams.
  • Ability to identify and analyse risks, and make corrective actions
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally & written with all levels of stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to juggle multiple tasks in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work unsupervised High level of accuracy and attention to detail
