About the role

Due to ongoing growth we are looking for motivated candidates who are interested in beginning a career in rail. You do not need to have previous experience in rail to apply as full training is provided for successful applicants!

So – what on earth is Signalling? Lollipop signs? Not quite. In a very basic form (as this is a complicated role) a Signaller is the traffic lights and the steering wheel for trains within that Signaller’s area of control.

As you would expect from the above – this role is essential to the safe and on time running of our trains and shares responsibility for the safety of thousands of people every day. This role works over a 24/7 roster so flexibility and full availability is a must in these roles.

What to Expect

  • 11 weeks paid traineeship - classroom and on the job (in Signal boxes).
  • Minimum 19 shifts across a 28 day period across a 24 hour, 7 days per week roster
  • Work at locations ALL ACROSS Melbourne (this is a requirement, get your commute playlist ready).
  • Part of the train control function
  • Perform safety functions and deliver train timetable performance

About you

  • Ideally you will have customer service experience
  • Safety Awareness aptitude
  • Understand the importance of policies and procedures
  • Have effective analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Enjoy being part of a wider team and are also happy working independently
  • Are available to work shifts outside normal working hours , including weekends and public holidays
  • Have a driver’s license and a reliable car enabling you to get to a variety of locations (this is essential for this position as not all locations are accessible via public transport outside of standard hours).
