Operations & Passenger Delivery team is committed to keeping Melbourne moving by delivering exceptional passenger experiences through, on time, reliable, safe and efficient services.
We achieve this through face-to-face interactions by our frontline teams, supported by our safety operations, operational readiness, and network performance teams.
About the role
Metro Trains Melbourne’s Passenger Experience Division has opportunities for people focused individuals to join our team in the role of Leading Station Assistant in a Permanent Part-Time capacity.
Responsible for providing Melbourne with an engaging and caring Passenger experience, we are looking for people who share our drive for delivering service excellence and who are willing to:
- Provide a customer focused approach with the travelling public at the station
- Make announcements over the public address system at station, where applicable, and provide accurate and up to date information to the travelling public
- Provide accurate timetable information and assist customers at ticket barriers
- Advise on multi-modal transport options (bus, tram and train) especially during service disruptions
- Attend to customers with special needs – in particular the elderly and disabled
- Provide myki sales and “Top Ups” to customers as well as accurate ticketing advice
- Provide a visual uniformed presence on station premises including ticketing barriers to enhance service delivery and security
- Ensure all station faults are reported properly and provide follow up according to reporting procedures
- Have the flexibility to work shifts and staff stations during train operational hours (trains run 24 hours on weekends)
- Maintain a high level of station cleanliness and presentation
You must be available to work on a seven-day rotating roster, including weekend night shifts, with a minimum 40 hours per fortnight to support our 24/7 service delivery. In return we’ll provide you with excellent conditions, training and support in an industry with endless opportunities. Please note that due to the nature of the work there are late and early shifts that commence outside of public transport hours.
