About the position:

You’ll be responsible for supporting the Facilities department by conducting inspections and condition monitoring, using your understanding of building construction practices, processes, and technology to ensure the optimisation of our rail assets. This position will be based in our Docklands office, but you’ll be using our fleet vehicle to travel around our network as required.

You’ll plan, organise, and implement the maintenance and unplanned renewals works needed at nominated locations, enjoying working independently, collaboratively, and with internal and external stakeholders to ensure quality throughout our rail assets.

In this position you’ll be working Monday-Friday, with rare after hours work in emergency situations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Undertake MTM Asset inspections and condition reporting.

  • Lead repairs, maintenance, and renewals of Infrastructure assets independently.

  • Perform minor building maintenance/handy worker tasks.

  • Maintain a safe working environment for staff, contractors, and the public.

  • Attend to incidents/faults, providing support to rectify them as quickly as possible.

  • Respond to emergencies after hours as/when required.

  • Working independently or as part of a team, using initiative to liaise with key stakeholders.

About you:

  • Understanding of construction practices with experience in rail/civil construction industries ideally possessing Building/Trade Qualification.

  • Skilled in inspection, maintenance, and repairs of buildings/civil structures.

  • Knowledgeable about OH&S, environmental, and heritage issues.

  • Demonstrated ability to actively and autonomously plan, monitor, and respond to changes.

  • An expert in leading and supervising staff and/or contractors.

  • Effectively operate in emergency and/or demanding situations.

  • Hold a current Victorian Driver's license.

  • Proficient on screen-based equipment i.e., computers, iPads and associated app, software.
