ABOUT THE ROLE

The purpose of the Senior System Safety Assurance Engineer is to assist the New Train Risk and Safety Systems Assurance Manager, in effectively leading safety assurance requirements for the new X’Trapolis 2 train delivery, acceptance and integration into network operation and maintenance.

This role is offered on a 24 month fixed term contract, you will operate out of Metro Trains Melbourne Head Office on 700 Collins St, Docklands.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Overseeing, coordinating and maintaining the X’Trapolis 2 Safety Assurance Management Plan.
  • Leading Risk workshops in accordance with MTM’s Integrated Risk Management procedure (A2023) and coordinate submissions for MTM’s Risk Acceptance Working Group (RAWG) through the use of Project Risk Registers.
  • Coordinate and support the development of the X’Trapolis 2 Goal Structuring Notation.
  • Coordinate and support the development of X’Trapolis 2 Safety Cases through the various stages of the Project lifecycle.
  • Support/coordinate the delivery of the Independent Safety Assessor (ISA) Contract.
  • Leading and coordinating reviews on Supplier safety assurance artefacts to provide value adding feedback to the Project and MTM.

ABOUT YOU

  • A tertiary qualification Engineering or equivalent appropriate degree.
  • Experience in providing System Safety Assurance related services.
  • Working knowledge of safety-related standards, including:
    • ISO/IEC 61508 Functional Safety of EEPE Safety Related Systems
    • EN 50126, 50128 and 50129
    • iESM
  • Minimum 5 years experience working in Risk Management or related roles.
  • Ability to read and interpret the Rail Safety National Law Application Act 2013 and other relevant legislation.
