The Metro Tunnel Project (MTP) is a transformational public transport project that will bring more trains to your suburb and reduce travel times by running the busy Cranbourne, Pakenham and Sunbury lines through a new tunnel. By untangling the City Loop, more trains can run more often across Melbourne.

We’ve finished digging twin 9km tunnels, and construction is underway on 5 new stations and testing of the new High Capacity Signalling system that will enable turn-up-and-go services.

Metro Tunnel Project has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Tunnel Access Lead to join the MTP Team.

The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Tunnel Access Lead to join the Metro Tunnel Project to facilitate and provide access to the Rail Infrastructure through planned rail occupations. You’ll provide a strong understanding of the policy and procedures related to rail access and work readiness. You’ll be an integeral part of the Works Readiness team supporting occupations, access, and work planning across the wider network. You’ll adhere to safe management of all stakeholders around the rail corridor in support of Victoria’s Big Build Infrastructure Program.

This role is a fulltime, Max-Term December 2024.As an MTM employee, you will have access to free travel along the network. 

Responsibilities

  • You’ll provide guidance of Occupation Management Process coordinating all bookings within the project timelines ensuring safe access to the track occupations.
  • Working with internal and external stakeholder and third-party contractors providing tailored advice around development, review of delivery strategies and provide advice and guidance on the impact that occupations within the rail corridor
  • You’ll manage access permits and coordinate all required occupations which can Overhead, Signalling, Substation and Track personnel
  • Produce occupation coordination documents which will include Occupation Works Guide, workgroup site plan, occupation schedule and shift plans using MS software and alike.
  • Drive continuous improvement within the occupation management process across the business with a focus on optimisation of the network and streamline processes.

About You

  • Previous experiences within a multi - disciplinary organisations
  • Previous experience as a Occupations Access Lead is ideal but not essential
  • Communicates with influence and build strong relationships with their stakeholders
  • Experience in rail safety management and /or maintenance of rail infrastructure on rail projects
  • Ability to identify and analyse risks, and make corrective actions that can be presented in workplace data and information
  • Understand contemporary project management methodologies
