Position Purpose Statement
Reporting to the Senior Station Master, you will be primarily responsible in managing the daily operations of railway stations within their supervised stations and/or control group and provide operational support to the Senior Station Master. Ensure the day to day station resourcing meets the operational requirements of the MTM Franchise and provide supervision, leadership and development to all staff.
About the Role
Some of the duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to are:
- Managing Metro’s Passenger Service operating facilities (stations) within the ideals of Passenger Service delivery and the service obligations of Metro.
- Managing the station resources through strong and effective leadership and management.
- Coaching and Mentoring of staff
- Provide detailed reports to the Senior Station Master on all incidents and circumstances occurring at the station
- Performing Safeworking and Control Desk functions.
- Deploying staff resources and re-allocating rosters in response to short notice absences
- Providing reports to the Line Manager on all unusual incidents and circumstances occurring at the locations supervised.
- Ensuring complaints are dealt with in accordance with Metro Trains Passenger Experience Policies & Procedures.

We are looking for someone who:
To be considered for this role, you need to demonstrate experience in:
- Management of station staff and of the full range of Passenger services.
- Demonstrated experience in People Leadership
- Ability to undertake complex tasks
- Effectively dealing with public complaints regarding maintenance matters and issues.
- Operating under emergency and/or demanding situations.
- Monitoring activities and providing leadership, as well as encouraging improvement.
- Planning, advising and analysing training needs and co-ordinate training for a diverse multi-skilled work group.
- Motivating and communicating effectively with all personnel throughout the organisation.
- Interpreting Passenger specifications and requirements.
- Following occupational health safety and environmental procedures in the rail industry.
