What is not to be passionate about? Mainframes are very much here, and here to stay for a very long time. Yet we find ourselves in an age where lack of investment in people and training now means that resources are scarce, and demand is at an all-time high. It is for this reason that Lloyds Banking Group Mainframe services have a phenomenal opportunity for 8 individuals to become a part of our UK team working with, being trained and mentored by industry leading authorities.

Are you looking for something different in IT that is a long-lasting exciting career on a platform that you may never have considered, which allows you to support the global economy, airlines, manufacturing, insurance and retail sectors then mainframe is definitely for you.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
You'll build efficient and reusable Mainframe applications, find and address performance issues, participate in design and code reviews. You'll also identify general improvements and implement new methodologies, collaborate with the product/design team to iterate the design function and implement the products and collaborate with Frontend, Backend and DevOps Engineers to build features.

A zSeries Mainframe trainee contributes to technical delivery and support in conjunction with our more experienced technical authorities. Starting with simple technical tasks and growing with experience and training.

You'll also attend a mainframe training program crafted for this role which includes technical training, soft skills, and service management training. In addition, you'll complete technical assessments crafted to assess your understanding of the mainframe and learned tasks, attend our calls and represent the mainframe team on appropriately assigned tasks.

When you gain more technical experience you'll be performing required tasks on our environments under close supervision of your trainer / buddy, monitoring and running through to resolution incidents and problems on our systems, identify and raise risks and issues appropriate to role, exposure and understanding as well as lead and deliver assigned responsibilities
