Base salary from $130,000 plus super & overtime

About you

You are a driven and enthusiastic Senior Mechanical Engineer with;

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field is required.
  • At least 10 years of technical experience in mechanical engineering
  • A track record of leading and executing successful refurbishment project
  • Experience involving large-scale rotating machinery, preferably in the power generation industry

About the role

Leading a small project team, you will be involved in the successful delivery of end-to-end project life cycle ensuring that Hydro Tasmania’s iconic assets will be able to continue to keep the lights on in Tasmania for many years to come.

Your responsibilities will include ensuring engineering governance and compliance to internal and external standards, coordinating and prioritizing engineering tasks for a small project team, and effectively managing project team resources. Your expertise and collaboration will be crucial in maintaining positive relationships with key internal stakeholders.

Whilst you will be primarily office based, you will be required to travel to sites across Tasmania frequently and during major projects be available to work on site for up to a month.

You will be an essential part of our passionate and supportive project delivery team, responsible for planning and executing major hydro station refurbishments across Hydro's diverse range of assets. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on maintaining and upgrading assets that have been powering Tasmania for over a century. You will also have the privilege of witnessing firsthand the disruption in the energy industry, with exciting projects like Battery of the Nation taking place. These assets are in some of the most dramatic areas in the state; places that people that who have lived here their whole life in Tasmania haven’t seen.
