Director, Devops

Devops engineering Director works with platform & application developers to automate and accelerate the testing, release and deployment of applications into a runtime environment quickly and reliably. Along with deploying the best-of-the-breed Observability applications to monitor, alert and attend to live site reliability issues. You will have a background in development, operations, and full-stack implementations. You will also have experience programming in a high-level language such as Ruby, Python, Java, C# or other language to script installation, configuration and provisioning. You will be providing continuous delivery solutions in a cloud environment and have experience with the core suite of tools used to manage different cloud providers.

What you’ll do:

• You will lead a team of incredible, hardworking individuals and help them with their goals, delivery, and career development

• You will architect, coordinate the delivery of critical infrastructure projects

• You will coordinate with Engineering Directors as well as other Expedia Devops teams to implement best of the breed solutions

• You will put in place monitoring, alerting tools and processes

• Technologies we use: Java, AWS, Kafka, GraphQL, Node.js, Kotlin, React, Elasticsearch, DynamoDB, GraphQL, S3, Lambda, Docker, Kubernetes, Data Dog, Looker

Who you are:

• 15+ years of experience in handling core devops responsibilities

• You will be responsible for leading and mentoring an incredible, hardworking team around their goals, delivery, and career development

• Strong understanding of application development methodologies

• Working knowledge of enterprise data center technologies including storage platforms, network switching, and security infrastructure within a virtualized data center

• Familiarity with a broad portfolio of AWS/Azure infrastructure tools (EBS, S3, EC2, Elastic IP, Route 53, VPC) and experience with cloud infrastructure management and automation technologies

• Continuous integration tools such as Jenkins, Hudson, etc.

• Experience optimizing applications, both stand-alone and in distributed systems to maximize performance

• Comfort with frequent, incremental code testing and deployment
